UVMtv: Student-produced television

UVMtv got its start in 2001 as a place where students could tune in for second-run movies. It’s come a long way since then.

This student-run TV station has grown into a fully functioning news and entertainment outlet featuring student-produced news, commentarycomedy and documentaries.

In 2015, the station signed a deal with a local cable provider to make two UVMtv channels available to Burlington residents: the first time the station has been available to off-campus viewers.

UVMtv provides students with a sense of family but also prepares them to succeed in hte industry, whether that’s an internship at the Cannes Film Festival or a career in the broadcast industry.

Students write, direct, produce and manage all affairs of their organization. As the UVMtv adviser, I work to move students toward independence, advising them one-on-one or in groups, helping them learn how to help themselves.
